Why does he always wear this? Well, I haven’t actually asked him, but it’s not hard to speculate. Always wearing the same basic outfit like this makes getting dressed plain easy. I don’t imagine high fashion and matching different outfits every day is at the forefront of a ninety-something’s mind. When he wears this, he already knows everything fits him just right, is functional, and goes together. Plus, he lives in an area where it never gets that cold, so this outfit usually works for whatever the weather is.
Would I recommend always wearing a white shirt? Nah. It’s super cute on my grandpa, but I think all of his shirts have stains now (mostly Cheeto ones— the man is crazy for those things). The stains wouldn’t be as noticeable if he wore shirts that weren’t white. I guess if a person was careful enough when wearing white shirts and used a good stain treatment when doing laundry, it might be okay to always wear white shirts as far as stains go. I’d wear, at the minimum, a clean, well-fitting pair of denim (no holes, no fancy butt pockets, no overly-distressed areas), a white or light blue dress shirt or Oxford cloth button down shirt, and a charcoal or navy cotton sport coat (I’m imagining this place to be in a warm climate, since everyone’s in shorts). Skip a tie. Something like the attached photo (sans tie).
Actually, I prefer none at all. I love nude beaches! But more seriously, when I do go to beaches where textiles are required, I like wearing microfiber bikini panties as a bikini bottom. They are so thin and light it’s almost like nothing at all. This fabric is awfully clingy and reveal every curve and crevice…. ‘specially when wet. My husband encourages me to wear these rather than the usual store bought bikini swimsuits. Here in Southern California, non-customer-facing offices are nearly always casual. Extremely casual. I’m allowed to wear yoga pants and flip-flops to my current job, and my boss is routinely in basketball shorts and a fitted cap. So if I interview at a company where business mostly gets done over the phone or via email, I assume most of the employees will be in jeans and t-shirts at best. Accordingly, I wear slacks (one step up from jeans) and a blouse (one step up from a t-shirt). I might add a blazer if I’m trying to look extra sharp.
