– The big gaps left on the doors on the public restrooms – letting people see through while you’re trying to do your, well – private business.. – That you have to wait a long time to order your food (approximately 10-15 minutes waiting the waitress/waiter do multiple rounds about asking your drinks first, disappear, ask your appetizers/food, disappear etc.) That time could’ve been spent for cooking the food in the kitchen.. – Health care system that treats people as if they’re buying a luxury item rather than being treated as part of human’s rights. – That there’re people who are fighting against the very means which reduces infant mortality, childhood diseases, foodborne ilness – such as anti-vaxxers, raw milk proponents etc. – The fact that these preventative measures are in place and working well is part of the reason why you are a developed country. I don’t get the itch to turn back to the years where these measures were not available/or the systems were lacking to enforce these to protect people from preventible death.
This is very common in the US but is very strange to me. In my country a guy is very respected if he has stayed with his parents until his marriage or even after his marriage. South Asian men stay with their parents as long as they can. The women are respected if they are still living with their parents up until it’s time to get married. In the US, it is very common for children to move out whenever they want and I think it is a very accepted trend. Competitive eating competitions. Not exactly a “tradition” I suppose, but something that’s done on a regular basis in the US that I can’t understand for the life of me. Why would people compete to see who can gobble down the largest amount of hotdogs they can in five minutes? Addressing elders by their names ! Be it their elder brother/sister, in laws , they just address them by first name. I found it very strange among many other things already covered in other answers. I find it quite strange because from where I come we have assigned names for almost all relationships 🙂
Cheerleaders & Prom Night & Prom Queen Obsessions: They make their own little celebrities and their own little gods and godesses from these events. Easter: what is being celebrated? Parades, lil bo beep look alikes with flower baskets, egg shaped chocolates, decorated eggs and easter bunny… to celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus? Credit: alot of people buy everything on credit and terms and hire-purchase and loans and always shopping like shopaholics with credit Particularly relevant today, mass shootings. Statistically, there are more than 1 every single day. No other westernized country has this problem. Yes, we all have mass shootings, but in almost all other western countries, when this occurs it is an abherration and not a part of the daily news. In Canada, for instance, I believe we have had less “shootings” so far this year than the USA has had “mass shootings”. I could be wrong but I don’t think by much. The Americans lust for guns and their second amendment rights is fueling civil carnage that has passed the point of being bizzaar and their elected officials will not do anything to stop it. The frequency of these mass shootings combined with the lack of public will to stem them points to the fact that Americans think this is just fine and normal, like “mass shooting Mondays” or ” bloody Sundays”. This is most definitely, wierd.
