Hey how are you? Well, to start you misquoted the verse. The love of money, is the root of all evil. Money is just a tool, just like a hammer or a drill. But, we as humans are greedy and want more and more of it, until we spend our entire lives trying to figure out how to make more of it. We even teach our kids that they need to spend their entire lives on being ready to make money. So, we all say, “well I use money, but I don’t love it.” Yeah, right, and a pig just flew by me (it was amazing, you should have seen it’s beautiful wings, lol). Until, we can cut the greed in each and everyone of us, the love of money will be the downfall of us all. I hope this makes it a little clearer. Oh, yeah, your question about the churches. They love money just as much as anyone else, if not more. Asking for money to help others is not a bad thing at all. Remember money is a tool. But, when we continue to ask for money just to build up our bank accounts or build bigger nicer buildings or to buy the pastor a new Cadillac, we have totally missed the point. If I remember right, less than $.01 cent of every $100 dollars took in by the churches ever reach the people who need it. That is a pretty startling figure, huh?

But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. 1 Timothy 6:6–9 And those options are often bad. If you have vices that have the propensity to hurt you or others, relative poverty (i.e. not having enough money to indulge those vices) is a good thing.
If you get a windfall of money, but you have not dealt with the vices and desires of your heart, that money will ruin you. There is a reason why lottery winners usually lose the money in 5 years with a trail of tears and destruction in their wake. They had no idea of the problems that come with it! Everything is now available to you: drugs, alcohol, prostitutes, shopping addictions, nicer cars, big houses, and “friends”. You can use money to influence other people, but it can sour relationships just as easily. Money changes the relationships you have with friends, as their jealousy and envy drive a wedge between you and them. Problem after problem keeps coming up when you misuse money. It takes incredible maturity to be wealthy and not harm yourself and others. It take impeccable skill to properly use the tool of money.
