Well, as I had already written in another answer of mine (Attman Kar’s answer to As of 2018, who are the Top Writers from South Africa?), and adding few others, here are the Africans who have been named as Top Writers for 2018. If you are a Top Writer (or know someone who is a Top Writer) from Africa, and your name is not mentioned, feel free to suggest an edit to my answer and add the name to the list above. What do you mean by blacklist? If you mean do I mute and block people who I don’t want bothering me, sure. But that isn’t blacklisting, as far as I am aware. The admins of TWs now have a growing list of needy wedding guests who have allergies and special seating accommodations and requests to meet the bride and are now arguing over what presents to get and who shouldn’t be allowed in the wedding and demands for proper dress attire lists and why the wedding band they hired had an anti-Semitic lyric in a prior album and should be replaced with their friend’s band and that the bride and groom should be more cognizant of their musical tastes and maybe they should move the wedding back an hour due to their +1’s travel arrangements, but their +1 flight changes and they ask the wedding be moved back hour 2 hours, or one hour, or one hour and 10 minutes or and forty-five minutes — wait, let’s take a poll.
I actually didn’t make Top Writer for a loooong time until a year ago. Up until that point it was this fairly exclusive club. It’s sorta like finding out that the dream girl you finally kissed yesterday also kissed 10 other dudes that day. (I’m kidding!) One: The program is too high maintenance. It creates too much infighting and people getting angry about who gets the award. If you invite someone in for one year — you typically have to invite them back in the next year or they get embittered. You need a reason not to re-invite them. There used to always be these huge answer chains too about the unfairness of top writer selection. Think of the Top Writer program as an annual wedding. It started small. You just invited the same people, and then a few more each time. But as the list grew, so did the work, so did the drama. It increased the emails and demands and barking from TWs to admins.
